The Challenge
ConsciousStep is a fast-growing e-commerce business which is driven by social cause, dictating them to sell on multiple online sales channel. One of the major challenges was to update the inventory across all the channels in real-time, across multiple warehouses. ConsciousStep also has a growing subscription business and run a lot of bundling options during promotions and different campaigns. The inventory system should be able to integrate with the warehouse's fulfillment systems. This should also support invoicing with wholesale customer relation management with the custom price lists and spread across the world with different payment terms and taxes.
The Solution
The things we focused on while researching for a solution were:
- Should be able to handle the needs of the fast-growing brand
- Should be a cloud-based solution
- Should be able to support the upgrade of different sales channel
- Should be wholesale customer/order management as ConsiousStep was not using Shopify plus
- Should have API to extend to support custom business processes and build integrations to fulfillment centers, if needed.
After researching, we narrowed it down to two possible solutions that were StitchLabs and Tradegecko. TradeGecko came out to be the top contender as it offered the most flexibility with different plans and a more comprehensive solution in the area of wholesale customer and order management. Another important factor which pushed Tradegecko a level up was its API support to build out customer integration with fulfillment centers and create custom reports essential for business.
During the implementation,we performed the following operations:
- Consolidated all the product list from the different sales channels into TradeGecko which allowed the operation to manage the products through one interface.
- Imported all the customers with different payment terms from different sales channels.
- Automated workflows, based on the custom business process using TradeGecko connect module
- Build custom integration to the fulfillment center for wholesale orders through Shopify and orders placed in TradeGecko. Allow operation to give better handle over fast-growing wholesale business and were possible to be more which was not possible before the inventory management system. TradeGecko also provides intelligence center where you can run real-time reports and track different metrics. Also, it has a forecasting section where the operation was able to track and measure the velocity of different products and plan ahead.
